Thanks for writing Mr. Seufert's class

I am having a wonderful time in London! The weather has been great. It has been about 75 degrees and sunny everyday, not a drop of rain! Today looks like it may be a bit more cloudy and it is cooler. The plane ride was long, but it seemed to go by very fast. We rode Continental airlines to Houston and that took 2 hours and then it was 9 hours to London. It will take us 10 hours on the way back because we will not have a tail wind. We have been going and going and I am a little bit tired, but I am having a wonderful time. On Saturday, we got on the train at 6:00 in the morning and went to Paris. We took the train right under the English channel! We spent the whole day in Paris and we got back to London at 10:30 at night. Wow what a day! We saw almost everything we had on our list, and it was a very beautiful city. I will write more about that with some pictures in my next post. Thanks so much for writing! I loved hearing from you.

The Tower of London

Howdy, Hawks!

Today I went to the Tower of London, a famous castle and fortress on the banks of the River Thames! The center of the castle was built almost a thousand years ago, in 1078, by a king named William the conqueror. William used the castle to defend his city from attack, and other kings have used it and added onto it for hundreds of years.

Today, the Tower of London houses a collection called the Crown Jewels. These are the crowns, sceptres, tiaras, and diamonds worn by the kings and queens of England. One crown I saw held over 12,000 diamonds!

I sure am enjoying my trip! We walked and walked today until we could hardly walk any longer. Tomorrow I will take a train to Windsor, where we'll see the queen's house. I'll be sure to take some neat pictures for you!

Till then,
Miss Beverly

Arriving in London

Hi, Dr. Green students!

After flying all night across the ocean, I arrived in London at 9:30 in the morning, which is just 2:30 in the morning in El Paso. You were still asleep when I landed! When I got here, I met my son Grant, who is 21 years old and was a Dr. Green student a long long time ago.

I did so much today! I went to Buckingham Palace (where the Queen works), the London Eye (click on the link from my earlier post to see it), and Big Ben! Did you know that "Big Ben? is not the name of the clock, but actually the name of the giant bell which rings out the time?

I also saw Westminster Abbey, a very famous church, St. James Palace and gardens, and the Thames river. Finally, I ended the day by having Fish & Chips. Phew, I'm exhausted!

I will write more tomorrow- I am going to the Tower of London tomorrow, where a lot of people have lost their heads! YIKES!

Cheers!

Today is the day I leave for London

Hello Dr. Green Students!

Today is the day I leave for London and I am so excited. I hope to send pictures back everyday so don't forgot to look at the TV monitor every morning to see where I have been. If you have any questions you can send them to me and I will do my best to answer. I am not sure if I will have access to a computer everyday but I will try. See you when I get back.
